Welcome Back

I am so happy to let you know that I will be your child’s homeroom teacher this year at Pine Glen Elementary School.  I have previously worked at Fox Hill (grade 2) and at Francis Wyman (grade 1).  I am looking forward to the challenge of the curriculum in fifth grade and have already begun organizing and learning.  This week I will have three professional development days devoted to fifth grade curriculum.  I’m looking forward to learning during these days.
There are many exciting parts about being a fifth grader.  The first is Camp Bourndale!  This is a great time to learn, bond and grow as students.  Second, you are the oldest in the school. You have waited a long time for this and it is exciting however, the younger children will look up to you as role models.  This is the perfect opportunity to show them how to behave and they will hopefully follow your lead as well mannered children.  Finally, to learn and have fun in school.  You will have lasting memories that will be captured in your yearbook.
I am looking forward to helping you grow as learners this year and to get you ready for middle school.  The team of fifth grade teachers are wonderful.  You will most likely have more than just me as we tier for math and reading.  Ms. Lane and I will also switch for science and social studies.  Ms. Lane will teach social studies while I will do the science.  Grab a book and start reading or go onto Reflex Math.

See you all in room 214 on August 31st.
